Anti-skid brake control system - has continuously variable characteristics to match braking to vehicle dynamics

The anti-skid control system has wheelspeed monitors and a proce-ssor to determine the blocking state of each wheel w.r.t. wheelspeed , and the speed of the vehicle. The braking forces applied to each wheel are computed using programed characteristics, with the slope of the characteristics varied to suit the braking requirements. Simple timing controls monitor the duty cycle of the brake + modulation and provide information to select the optimum slope of the characteristics. The slope of the characteristic is linked to the brake modulation periods, ie. the time intervals during which the wheels are hear to blocking. The same variable control can be extended to the wheelspin control for the driving wheels. ADVANTAGE - Adaptive anti-skid brake control, smoother braking, more comfort.
