PURPOSE:To transmit image data by converting the number of picture elements of the image data to data with a prescribed number of picture elements by performing a processing so as to set the number of picture elements of the image data at the prescribed number of picture elements when the image data of plural pictures accumulated in an accumulation means are transmitted as one picture data. CONSTITUTION:The image data of one picture is read out from a memory circuit 109, and is stored in the RAM of a control circuit 115, and the distribution state of the luminance level of a luminance signal is analyzed with the control circuit 115. And the number of picture element data is eliminated from the picture elements with minimum and maximum luminance levels out of all the picture element data of the picture in sequence of small and large luminance levels, for example, the picture element data equivalent to 5% of all the picture elements, and the maximum luminance level and the minimum luminance level are decided based on the maximum and minimum luminance levels out of remaining picture element data, and the matching between the number of picture elements at a transmission side and that of picture elements at a reception side can be obtained. |
