PURPOSE:To obtain a laser probe having durability and stably generating heat at its leading end by constituting at least a part of the interior of the laser probe of a material containing a substance absorbing the laser beam incident from one end part of said probe to convert the same to heat energy. CONSTITUTION:A laser probe 10 is formed into a taper shape reduced in its diameter from the beam incident end 14 thereof toward the probe nib 15 and a beam absorbing heating part is welded to a beam guide part 11. The beam guide part 11 is constituted of quartz glass permitting laser beam to transmit and the beam absorbing heating part 12 is formed from a composition wherein quartz glass is uniformly doped with Cu ions 13 being a laser beam absorbing substance. Laser beam is incident to the laser probe 10 to reach the beam absorbing heating part 12 through the beam guide part 11 and converted to heat energy by Cu ion 13 in the beam absorbing heating part 12. By this constitution, the probe nib 15 is heated and brought into contact with the affected region of a human body to make it possible to perform incision. |
