Quaternary ammonium silicates of certain composition and structure are useful ingredients for cleaning solutions and liquid laundry detergents. Such silicates wherein the organic ammonium cation has a molecular weight of less than about 240 can be formulated with surfactants to provide stable liquid detergent solutions that exhibit excellent cleaning when compared to commercial products.
