<p>A method and a device for automatically and repeatedly threading the wire electrode (12) of an EDN apparatus and for automatically cutting off the wire electrode (12) in the event of wire breakage, in which the wire electrode (12), which is drawn off from a supply roller (11), runs within a wire-feeder section (A) lying in a wire-feeder axis (x1) and is capable of being arrested, is conveyed into the area of a wire-working section (B) and is threaded there into the needle eye (2) of a prepared needle (1), which can be displaced in a wire-working axis (Y) running at an angle to the wire-feeder axis (x1) and can be removed from the wire-working section (B), for threading the wire with a small projecting length (t), is drawn by the needle (1) while forming a wire loop (20) into a needle slot (27) in the direction of the wire-working axis (y) and is passed through the starting bore (26) in the workpiece (21), which starting bore (26) lies in the wire-working section (B), and, within the wire-delivery section (D) lying in the wire-discharge axis (x2) running at an angle to the wire-working axis (y), is fed between wire-withdrawal members (33) to a wire-collecting chamber (18). <IMAGE></p> |
