TREATMENT OF POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE FIBER

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber having excellent spinnability and needle- punching property by applying a treating agent containing a specific alkyl phosphate alkali metal salt to a polyphenylene sulfide fiber. CONSTITUTION:An undrawn fiber composed of polyphenylene sulfide is drawn and coated with 0.1-1.0wt.%, preferably 0.1-0.5wt.% (based on the fiber) of a treating agent containing >=50wt.% of an alkyl phosphate alkali metal salt of formula (A is alkyl phosphate alkali metal salt having 8-10C alkyl group; B is alkyl phosphate alkali metal salt having 12-22C alkyl group) (preferably potassium salt, etc.). It is preferable to increase the ratio of the component A according to the increase of the fineness of the fiber from the viewpoint of collectability.
