PURPOSE:To promote grain growth by mixing a principal component obtained by blending SrTiO3 partially substituted with Ca with respective one or more of an oxide group of a transition element and a specific compound group with BaTiO3 and SiO2, calcining the resultant mixture and adding the calcined mixture to a composition. CONSTITUTION:A voltage-dependent nonlinear resistor porcelain composition obtained by mixing 100 pts.wt. principal component prepared by blending 90.000-99.998mol% compound expressed by the formula (0.001<=x<=0.300) with 0.001-5.000mol% at least one or more of transition element oxides, such as Y2O3, WO3 or Ta2O3, 0.001-5.000mol% at least one or more of oxides, such as Al2O3, Sb2O3 or BaO and LiF, NaF and SiC with 0.001-10.000 pts.wt. additive obtained by calcining a mixture composed of 60.000-32.500mol% BaTiO3 and 40.000-67.500mol% SiO2 at 1200-1300 deg.C. The resultant composition is calcined at <=1100 deg.C, then sintered at >=1200 deg.C in a reducing atmosphere and further sintered at 900-1300 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere to afford a varistor. |
