In sepn. of NH3 from liq. manure, to render this low in NH3, the manure is transferred to an NH3 volatilisation chamber, where the NH3 is liberated from the liq. phase and is transferred, in the gaseous state, to a chamber contg. inorganic acid, where the NH3 is converted to a soln. of an NH4 salt, suitable for use as inorganic fertiliser. The treated air stream is released to the amtos., opt. after further treatment. The NH3 is pref. chemically volatilised (by addn. of a base, partic. CaO) and/or mechanically (by raising the effective specific surface of the manure), and the NH3 gas is passed into the chamber contg. acid by an air stream led into the volatilisation chamber. The effective surface is raised by stirring and/or spraying the manure, or leading it over slightly inclined plates into the volatilisation chamber, or by means of a continuous air stream. A conc. acid is used, esp. conc. HNO3. The gas stream leaving the acid chamber is treated with an adsorbent and/or absorbent, pref. an aq. suspension of neogen, and released into the atmos.
|
