An electrophotographic light-sensitive material comprising a support having provided thereon at least one photoconductive layer containing an inorganic photoconductive substance and a binder resin, wherein the binder resin comprises (A) at least one resin having a weight average molecular weight of from 1x10<3> to 2x10<4> and containing not less than 30% by weight of a copolymerizable component corresponding to a repeating unit represented by the general formula (I) described below and having at least one acidic group selected from the group consisting of -PO3H2, -SO3H, -COOH, -OH, (wherein R represents a hydrocarbon group or -OR min (wherein R min represents a hydrocarbon group)) and a cyclic acid anhydride-containing group at one of the terminals of the main chain thereof; wherein a1 and a2 each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group or a hydrocarbon group; and R1 represents a hydrocarbon group; and (B) at least one copolymer resin having a weight average molecular weight of from 3x10<4> to 1x10<6> and containing at least one polyester type macromonomer having a weight average molecular weight of from 1x10<3> to 1.5x10<4> and represented by the following general formula (IIIa), (IIIb), (IIIc), or (IIId): wherein the group in the brackets represents a recurring unit; c1 and c2, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, -COO-V1, or -COO-V2 bonded through a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms (wherein V1 and V2 each represents a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms); X1 represents a direct bond, -COO-, -OCO-, &lparstr& CH2 &rparstr& @@COO-, &lparstr& CH2 &rparstr& @@OCO- (wherein l 1 and l 2 each represents an integer of from 1 to 3), (wherein d1 represent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms), -CONHCONH-, -CONHCOO-, -O-, or -SO2-; Y1 represents a group bonding X1 to -COO-; W1 and W2, which may be the same or different, each represents a divalent aliphatic group, a divalent aromatic group (each of the aforesaid groups may have, in the bond of each divalent organic moiety, at least one bonding group selected from -O-, -S-, (wherein d2 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms), -SO2-, -COO-, -OCO-, -CONHCO-, -NHCONH-, (wherein d3 has the same meaning as d2), (wherein d4 has the same meaning as d2), and or an organic moiety composed of a combination of these moieties; R31 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group; c3 and c4 have the same meaning as c1 and c2; X2 has the same meaning as X1; Y2 represents a group bonding X2 to -COO-; W3 represents a divalent aliphatic group; R32 has the same meaning as R31; R31 min represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group or -COR33 min (wherein R33 min represents a hydrocarbon group); Y1 min represents a group bonding X1 to Z1; Z1 represents -CH2-, -O-, or -NH-; Y2 min represents a group bonding X2 to Z2; Z2 has the same meaning as Z1; and R32 min has the same meaning as R31 min . The electrophotographic light-sensitive material exhibits excellent electrostatic characteristics and mechanical stength even under severe conditions. Also it is advantageously employed in the scanning exposure system using a semiconductor laser beam.
