Process for producing refractory green bricks on the basis of bauxite, magnesite and a binding agent, which process comprises the steps of: a) preparing a composition of A: bauxite of the diaspore type having an Al2O3 content of < approx. 90%, B: magnesite having an MgO content of < approx. 95% in proportions which are such that spinel binding takes place in the composition when a high temperature is subsequently used; and C: water glass as the binding agent; b) pressing the composition from stage a) into the desired form; c) heating the composition from stage b) to a temperature at which mechanically bound water evaporates; and d) recovering the resulting green brick. <IMAGE> |
