In a device for automatic release at a tipping point of a self-tipping container (1) which can be mounted on an undercarriage (2) and raised, for example, by means of a fork-lift truck and which possesses a first locking member (3) which keeps the container in engagement on the undercarriage as a result of engagement with a spring-loaded second locking member (4), there is mounted on the front edge of the undercarriage (2) a release member (5) which is actuated by an object during the tipping of the container at the tipping point.
