PURPOSE:To control tension fluctuation and eliminate the difference in level of a strip at the time of winding by controlling the stepped part position of the mandrel of a winder in such a manner that the mandrel stepped part coincides with the strip top end position. CONSTITUTION:When the top end of a strip 1 is moved from a strip top detector 7 to the winding stopped position of a stepped mandrel 3, the mandrel 3 circumferential speed is accelerated at the time when the strip 1 top end is reached to the stepped part, and controlled so that the strip 1 top end coincides with the stepped part at a timing of its reaching to the mandrel 3. Hence, by fitting the mandrel 3 stopped part to the position of the strip 1 top end, the coil diameter form after winding is made circular to restrain tension fluctuation. Consequently, in a rolling machine, material characteristic imbalance caused by the tension fluctuation is reduced to improve yield, and the winding form is also improved. |
