<p>In a process for purification of waste waters (effluent) with the aid of plants, the roots of which act together with soil substrates and microorganisms to bind and degrade polluting substances contained in the waste water, the waste water is passed through the roots, from a region extending below the roots, to a region situated above the roots. The waste water is passed evenly through the roots. An appropriate apparatus is characterised in that the roots with gravel form a filter layer and absorption layer through which the waste water flows vertically from bottom to top. The gravel lies on a grid, through which the waste water flows in an upwards direction.</p> |
