The invention relates to a method for balancing a roll, in which method an annular rail is fixed to the surface of the roll, to which rail a counterweight is attached. Only the ends of the rail are fixed to the inner part of the roll shell and advantageously in contact with the longitudinal joint of a tubular roll, the rail 11 ultimately being fixed in two stages, in doing which a longitudinal joining of the tubular roll is effected. <IMAGE>
