SEPARATOR FOR VIRUS AND CELL

PURPOSE:To provide a separator for viruses and cells having stable and high separation ability by laminating calcium phosphate-based cellular granules having a prescribed average grain diameter on a cellular material composed of a polyvinyl acetal resin having open cells of a prescribed average pore diameter. CONSTITUTION:A polyvinyl acetal resin (e.g. polyvinyl formal resin) is produced by a method for hydrolyzing polyvinyl acetate, simultaneously acetalizing the hydrolyzed polyvinyl acetate, etc. The resultant resin is then formed into a film to produce a cellular material having open cells of 10-1000mum average pore diameter. Calcium phosphate-based cellular granules 3 having 10-2000mum average grain diameter are subsequently laminated onto the cellular material 2 composed of the aforementioned polyvinyl acetal resin and the above- mentioned cellular material 2 is preferably further laminated thereon to produce a separator 1 for viruses and cells.
