PURPOSE: To form a curved edge part to a container made of a sheet comprising a thermoplastic material by using a mandrel having a substantially closed annular edge part forming chamber formed to the bottom part thereof. CONSTITUTION: Each mandrel carriage unit 122 has a first edge part forming surface at the place just under a mandrel 124. When a container UC having an unprocessed edge part is pushed down by the action of an edge part falling means 144, the first edge part forming surface 150 receives the peripheral edge part of the container UC. The edge part falling means 144 also has an annular member 152 which is reciprocally moved in the same axial direction as the center axis of the contracting mandrel part 124 of the mandrel carriage unit 122. The second edge part forming surface 154 of the annular member 152 and the first edge part forming surface 150 of the mandrel carriage unit 122 cooperate to form a generally frustoconical substantially closed edge part forming chamber.
