[Also in Division E1] A self-acting device for closing continuously a channel containing a track and /or guide and/or driving means for a moveable body, displaceable above and in parallel relation to the longitudinal direction of the channel and having a portion projecting into said channel comprises a flexible elongated closing element closing the channel ahead of and behind that portion of the movable body which extends into the channel, the closing element extending into running association with and being locally deflected by the movable body, so that, above the said portion thereof, in any position of the movable body, a part of the channel is uncovered below the movable body to permit said portion thereof to extend into the channel and, as the movable body moves, the channel is progressively uncovered and closed respectively ahead of and behind said portion of the movable body so that an uncovered part of the channel progresses with the movable body. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the running and sliding of the element (say for example, the telescopic cover of a swimming pool) is effected through wheels 8 mounted within the track frames 7 and carrying the structures of said element while rolling on double rails 9 lying within the channels 10 arranged within the ground or platform 6. The said closing element which may be a band or belt 17 is guided by pulleys 18, 19, 18<SP>1</SP>, 19<SP>1</SP>, (not shown) borne by frame 7 and which cause the band to pass above the wheels 8 for example in a horizontal longitudinal guide path 20 and enables the band 17 to extend down to the ground level and to close the space 14 left between the two rails. |
