The invention relates to a new variety of hybrid Aster "Rose Butterfly" with brilliant pink flowers. It was obtained by hybridisation of the variety of Aster pringlei "Monte Cassino" (female variety) with a new variety of Aster novi-belgii (male variety). It is characterized mainly by the brilliant pink colour (ref. RHS 62B) of its ligules which have a straight top, by capitula 25-27 mm in diameter, and by a very thick and green oblanceolate foliage. Its ligule/disc ratio is 1.2. The invention is particularly suited to being exploited in industrial cultivation for the production of cut flowers from Aster. <IMAGE>
