The invention relates to a new model of rotary furnace for the combustion or heat treatment of various materials, in which, in order to obtain adequate control of the atmosphere inside it, part of the outflowing gases, mixed with air or another gas, are recirculated. Regulation of the flow to be recirculated is achieved by means of a device consisting of a supply duct which is inserted coaxially inside the diverging end of a second supply duct, said ducts being movable with respect to each other, the first duct containing the recirculated gases and the second duct containing the air or other gas. A variation in the ratio between the flow cross sections produces a variation in the flow rate of the recirculated gases. The seals at the ends of the furnace consist of two rings, one of which is fixed and the other being axially slidable and flexible, said rings making contact in a plane transverse to the axis of the furnace, and being kept in mutual contact by a toroidal chamber consisting of one or more parts and pressurized with air or another gas. <IMAGE> |
