EVALUATING METHOD FOR RECORDING QUALITY

PURPOSE:To evaluate the quality of density on records without being affected by illumination variation nor disturbing light by finding the relative density of a solid-black pattern to a density reference from two-dimensional image date. CONSTITUTION:The solid-black pattern 6 is recorded on recording paper by output equipment so as to evaluate what black density patterns of characters and a drawing recorded on the recording paper by the output equipment have. The recording paper 1 to be evaluated where the solid-black pattern 6 is recorded is picked up by a TV camera 3 as a multi-valued two-dimensional image together with the density reference 7 which is prepared and stored in an image processor 5. The solid-black pattern 6 is picked up together with the density reference 7 and the relative density of the solid-black pattern 6 to the reference density is found quantitatively from the multi-level two-dimen sional image corresponding to the density reference image 7 ' and solid-black pattern image 6 ' which are recorded at the same time on the same screen of a display.
