PURPOSE: To improve the response characteristic of a differential-limiting clutch by actuating a control ring by the action of control cam surfaces or control profiles made on the opposed end faces of an abutment ring fixed on a differential carrier and the control ring. CONSTITUTION: An abutment ring 54 secured on a differential carrier and a control ring 28 placed for rotation are opposed to each other, and balls 49 are retained between ball grooves 48 and 47 cut in the respective rings 54 and 28. When an electric motor 33 is operated to drive via a pinion 35 and teeth 34 the control ring 28 for a predetermined angular movement relative to the abutment ring 54, the balls 49 are moved onto control cam surfaces provided by those ball grooves 47 and 48 to press the control ring 28 accordingly, which in turn drives a friction mechanism 21 in a differential-limiting clutch via a thrust bearing 39 and a pressure disk 40. This improves the response characteristic of the differential-limiting clutch. |
