PURPOSE:To better the touching condition of a connector with its partner connector so as to enhance reliability of the flat cable connector by forming the attachment portion of a metal terminal from electrically insulating material, and covering the attachment portion with a housing having such structure as being engaged into the partner connector. CONSTITUTION:At the terminal portion of a flat cable 3 a long-plate-shaped metal terminal 4 made of a thick-walled metal conductor of roughly the same width as that of a conductor 1 is supplied, as a connecting terminal manufactured at the same pitch as the parallel pitch of the conductor 1, to the terminal portion of the flat cable 3. A stepped portion 4a is formed at the middle portion of the metal terminal 4, and an appropriate number of through holes 5 are provided through that portion of an insulating cover 2 which is between conductors 1 and near the conductor exposed portion. A housing made of electrically insulating synthetic resin material and having such structure as being engaged into the partner connector is attached to the terminal portion thus processed. The metal terminal 4 is thus brought into good contact with the connection terminal of its partner connector. |
