Process for the biological conversion of dissolved nitrates into nitrogen (2) by means of a gaseous reducing agent, characterised in that the carbon and the source of energy employed for the microbiological process is liquefied petroleum gas (8) converted in the reactor (5) by oxygen (9) into an appropriate form for the denitrification in the reactor (2).
