Rendering leather surface mattee as steroid replacement - by application of compsn. contg. microcapsules

Leather surfaces are rendered matt by applcn. of a coating agent, as a soln. in an organic solvent or an aq. dispersion, and drying. The coating agent contains micro-capsules with particle size 2-50 microns as matting agent. USE/ADVANTAGE - The matt surface is retained after mechanical treatment of the leather, e.g. after polishing. A level, full-bodied leather surface is obtd. Materials other than leather, e.g. paper, textiles, wood, minerals, metals or synthetics, can be rendered matt by use of the micro-capsules. Use of micro-capsules of size 2-50 microns as matting agent in primers and/or dressings for finishing leather is claimed.
