The pin (3) on the sliding bolt (2) is prevented from moving, in the locked position, by a latching element (4) for which two independently operable unlocking arrangements are provided. One of these involves two electromagnets (6,7) actuated by a coded card for release and re-engagement of the latch. The other arrangement uses a key and a slider (9) working with the tumblers (13) to move the latch away from the pin (3). USE/ADVANTAGE - In e.g. banks and safe-deposits. The lock can be opened without its keys, but only by the person owning or renting the facility.
