A roller shutter is actuated by a belt which is driven by a roller (17). The roller (17) is mounted inside a cavity in a specially shaped building block (1) forming part of the wall of the building to which the roller shutter is fitted. The roller (17) and its driving mechanism (18) are supported on a bracket which is formed from a plate which has its edges fastened to a rectangular frame. This frame is made from an angle section (11) which fits over the corners of the edges of the cavity in the block (1) with adhesive and the sloping sides of the bracket are covered with plaster to produce a flush finish of the wall.
