A mandrel changing apparatus, for a tube rolling mill, includes a frusto-conical drum 1 which has longitudinal slots in its periphery carrying mandrel heads 4, each head being fed by a tube 8 to be rolled until it contacts a mandrel rod 9. After the tube has been drawn through the rolls the head falls through a slot in a trough 7 and slides down a shoot 10 into another slot in the drum 1. The tube is returned, and the drum is partially rotated to align a different head 4 with the tube for the next pass. A wall 3 (Fig. 4) surrounds the lower part of the drum to prevent the heads 4 from falling out of their slots. |
