The cutting device for a cable or wire stripper has a guide part (1) incorporating a fixed cutting blade allowing a longitudinal slit to be formed in the cable or wire mantle. The guide part is designed to be held in the hand and is in the form of a disc segment with at least one slot (3) in its curved peripheral edge, the base of which has a semi-circular profile, with the cutting blades projecting at the centre of the base, for slitting the outer mantle or cable as this is pulled through the slot (3). Pref. the penetration height of the cutting blade (7) is matched to the dia. of the cable or wire to be stripped ADVANTAGE - Suitable for optical fibre cable.
