The felt is made from superposed layers of matted webs containing synthetic multifilaments the webs being bonded together by bilateral needling at a rate of 40 to 50 piercings per sq. cm the ends of the compound matted webs being joined to form the webs into an endless felt whose inner face is lined with a porous plastics layer.
