<p>A position measuring device of an underground excavator, which is capable of finding the orthogonal coordinates of the underground excavator such as a shield machine and measuring the three-dimensional position thereof automatically and efficiently in real time regardless of the length and curvature of a planned tunnel. It is provided with three or more stationary transmitting stations (10, 12, and 14) set up in predetermined positions on the ground or underground for receiving electric waves propagated through the underground, a mobile receiving station (22) mounted on the underground excavator to receive signals from the transmitting stations, synchronizing means to detect the time of transmission of electric waves from each stationary transmitting station, and computing means (30) to compute the coordinates of the underground excavator while acquiring the detection time from the synchronizing means and the reception time from the mobile receiving station. Various kinds of synchronizing means are disclosed.</p> |
