Ball pen - has retractable writing tip which is actuated by moving pen clip radially outwards

A writing instrument, esp. a ball pen, has a barrel (1) which houses the tubular ink reservoir (3) which has the ball fitted to its outer end. The ball end is retracted within the barrel (1) by a spring (2). The upper end of the ink reservoir (3) is attached to a wedge (4). The clip (9) is attached to a boss (5) which can slide transversely in the barrel. This boss (5) has a V notch (6) which can engage the wedge (4). When the boss (7) is pressed so that the clip (9) moves away from the barrel (1) the inks reservoir (3) is pushed upwards by the spring (2) so that the wedge (4) engages the notch (6) and the writing tip is retracted within the barrel (1). Pressing the clip (9) against the barrel pushes the writing tip outwards to the used position. USE - Ball pens.
