A cyclone type dust separator is fitted before the air filter of the air supply to an internal combustion engine. The separator has an air inlet element (2) which is provided with curved vanes (3), which impart a swirling motion to the air so that the dust is thrown radially outwards by centrifugal force and flows out through the dust outlet (4). The invention is concerned with method of manufacture of dust separator and proposes that the housing (1), the air inlet element (2) and its guide vanes (3) and the dust outlet (4) are all combined and made in one piece and the housing (1) is rigidly fastened to the air outlet element. USE - Dust separator for air inlet to internal combustion engine.
