PURPOSE: To provide a drive and control apparatus having more flexibility by providing an autonomous unit having a chuck and an operation component and a programmable control mechanism. CONSTITUTION: Drive apparatus is equipped with an autonomous unit 21 in one side and a control mechanism 22 in the other side. The unit 21 is attached to a support 23 so as to be fixed to a frame 13 in one workstation 14. The unit 21 includes a cylinder 25, and a slide 24 includes a thimble 26 equipped with a gasket to function as a piston roughly in the center part of the longitudinal direction thereof. Both ends of the cylinder 25 are connected to ducts 27 and 28, and axial movements thereof in left and right directions are controlled to move a sleeve 24. A rotary assembly 29 held in the sleeve 24 by a bearing and having a hollow shaft 30 is placed in the sleeve 24. A hub 32 includes a composite small gear 35 movable in an axial direction, and drives the assembly together with a gear element 36 to allow a speed to be changed. |
