摘要

An anti-HIV agent wich contains as the active ingredient a plasma protein chemically modified with a dicarboxylic acid (e.g., maleic anhydride or succinic anhydride) so that the polarity of the charge of the amino groups of the amino acid residues constituting the plasma protein becomes negative. The blood plasma protein chemically modified with a dicarboxylic acid anhydride to be used as the active ingredient of the anti-HIV agent is effective in inhibiting formation of giant cells by mixed culture of HIV-infected cells and HIV-non-infected cells and inhibiting direct infection of helper T-cells by HIV, and has an extremely high safety. Therefore, the agent is expected to be used for treating HIV-infected patients.
