<p>A bale shredder comprising a rotatable tub (15), closure means (14) at one end of the tub, a bladed rotor (19) having access to the interior of the tub through an aperture (18) in said closure means (14), the rotor being of smaller diameter than the tub (15) and being rotatable about an axis generally parallel to but spaced from the axis of rotation of the tub, bale abutment means (44) associated with said rotor for determining the degree of penetration of the rotor blades in to a bale, and mounting means for said bale abutment means whereby the position of said bale abutment means, in the direction of the axis of rotation of the bladed rotor, can be adjusted relative to the blade tips during operation of the shredder, to control the degree of penetration during use of the blade tips into a bale engaging said bale abutment means.</p> |
