PURPOSE:To lower the percent defective in the production process and to improve reliability as a product by forming a color filter layer orthogonally with a common electrode on a common electrode side transparent substrate. CONSTITUTION:The color liquid crystal display element which is formed with the common electrode 4 and segment electrodes 3 on the inner side of the transparent substrates 1, 2 facing each other and the color filter layer 7 on the one substrate 2 and is disposed with a liquid crystal layer 9 between the transparent substrates is formed with the color filter layer 7 orthogonally with the common electrode 4. The number of the electrodes on the side where the color filter 7 exists is, therefore, decreased and the rate of occurrence of the electric leak or disconnection between the lines in the production process is lowered in this way. |
