PURPOSE:To provide a titled display of fast response speeds and small electric consumption by disposing an org. molecular layer arranged regularly between two sheets of electrodes and using the change in the visible absorption spectra in accordance with the electron polarization of the org. molecules for the principle of displaying. CONSTITUTION:An org. molecular layer arranged regularly is produced from a single crystal or is produced by using the techniques of Langmuir cumulative films. Preferably, a salt or an acid or a base is dispersed in the org. molecular layer. Such org. molecular layer is disposed between two sheets or electrodes, whreby the intended field effect type display is obtd. If a voltage is applied across the org. molecular layer, a change in electron polarization takes place in the org. molecules, hence a change in the electron structure of the org. molecules. In accordance with this, the visible absorption spectra of the org. molecules changes and the change in colors is observed thereform. |
