PURPOSE:To obtain an alkaline dry battery at a low cost and with excellent high rate discharge performance by using a mixture of chemically synthesized manganese dioxide powder whose main crystal structure is theta-type and electrolytic manganese dioxide powder as the positive pole active material. CONSTITUTION:Chemically synthesized manganese dioxide whose main crystal structure is theta-type is prepared by acid-treating manganese oxide obtained by calcining manganese sulfide. This manganese dioxide is mixed with electrolytic manganese dioxide powder and this mixture is used as a positive pole active material. Average particle size of the chemically synthesized manganese dioxide is preferably 20num or less and mixing ratio is preferably 30-60wt%. Since hetaerolite producing reaction easily occurs, discharge duration time is lengthened and high rate discharge performance is enhanced. By using chemically synthesized manganese dioxide, cost is reduced. |
