PURPOSE:To obtain a reliable optical fiber with excellent coupling efficiency by inserting an optical fiber whose tip end surface is projected to a connection end surface into the groove of a lens optical axis part. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber member 2 and a lens member 8 are arranged so that the optical axis of the optical fiber 5 and the optical axis of a spherical lens 10 for convergence are aligned with each other. Then the end surface of the optical fiber tip part is inserted into the groove 12 and solder 13 is sandwiched between a 1st connection end surface 7 and a 2nd connection end surface 11. Then they are heated on a hot plate 16 to fuse the solder 13, thereby adhering the 1st connection end surface 7 and 2nd connection end surface 11. In this case, the end surface of the optical fiber tip part and the end surface 15 in the groove 12 which is perpendicular to the lens optical axis are not on the same surfaces with the connection end surfaces 7 and 11, so the solder 13 reaches neither the end surface of the optical fiber tip part nor the end surface 15 perpendicular to the lens optical axis. Consequently, the highly reliable optical fiber terminal with excellent coupling effect is obtained. |
