TEXTILE-TREATING AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a textile-treating agent to be applied in the production process of a synthetic fiber and effective in preventing the breakage and damage of yarn in the fiber spinning, yarn spinning and twisting processes at increased spinning speed and improving the quality of the yarn by using an ester having an alkyl group of a specific chain length as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective textile-treating agent is composed of an ester having a 30-50C alkyl group and derived from a carboxylic acid and a 30-50C aliphatic alcohol or an alkylene oxide adduct of said alcohol. The carboxylic acid forming said ester is preferably simple organic acid or a carboxylic acid produced by the partial esterification of a polybasic carboxylic acid with a polyvalent hydroxyl compound. Another example of the ester is an ester of a 31-51c aliphatic carboxylic acid and an alkylene oxide adduct of a hydroxyl- containing compound (e.g. an ethylene oxide adduct of a polyvalent hydroxyl- containing compound).
