PURPOSE:To obtain the binder resin for toners having excellent development stability at and under a high temp. and high humidity by polymerizing a specific polymer in the absence of a radical initiator, dissolving the polymer in a polymerizable monomer and then subjecting the soln. to a soln. polymn. or suspension polymn. CONSTITUTION:The polymer which has a peak in the region of <=10000mol. wt. in the mol. wt. distribution of GPC and has <=3.5 weight average mol. wt./ number average mol. wt.(Mw/Mn), and >=50 deg.C Tg is polymerized in substantially the absence of the radical initiator with the polymerizable monomer and this polymer is dissolved in the polymerizable monomer. The soln. is then subjected to the soln. polymn. or suspension polymn. to prepare the resin compsn.
