In a process for producing a plurality of endless webs from a moving endless primary web of textile material, selected longitudinal sections of the web are continuously cut out and the alternate cut ends joined. The cutting out and alternate joining are carried out fully automatically in function of command signals which represent the cutting positions. The webs so obtained may differ in respect of quality criteria established by preliminary inspection and classification. The cutting out, removal and alternate joining is already carried out fully automatically in the testing machine. The testing machine advantageously comprises an automatic device (H) for cutting out longitudinal web sections which are classified on the inspection table (T), arranged between the inspection table (T) and the winding station (W), and an alternate joining device (S) for alternate joining of corresponding front and rear cut ends (TU, TV). |
