PURPOSE:To improve collection efficiency for the whole volume of a catalyst supports by providing the first catalyst support consisting of cordierite and the second catalyst support consisting of porous silicon carbide sintered body, in the passage communicating with the exhaust side of an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:In an exhaust gas purifying device 1, the passage 2a of a casing 2 consisting of its metallic pipe is connected to the exhaust pipe line Ea of an internal combustion engine E. In the casing 2, there is provided a catalyst support body 5 of double structure which is composed of the first catalyst support 3 consisting of cordierite and the second catalyst support 4 consisting of porous silicon carbide sintered body to purify exhaust gas respectively. At the side surface on the gas exhaust side of the catalyst support body 5, there is provided the third catalyst support 6 consisting of porous silicon carbide sintered body. At the casing 2, a ceramic heater 7 for regeneration is fitted. It is thus possible to improve collection efficiency for the whole volume of respective catalyst supports 3, 4, 6. |
