Monoalkyl ethers of alkylene glycols and oligoalkylene glycols are reacted completely with (meth)allyl halides or vinyl halides to give terminally monounsaturated glycol ethers as product, wherein initially complete reaction takes place with only one equivalent of alcoholate former, e.g. an alkali metal alcoholate or hydroxide, and two equivalents of glycol monoether, then reaction with one equivalent of alkenyl halide takes place, following which a mixture of product and glycol monoether is filtered off or distilled off from the alkenylmethallyl halide which is formed, then this mixture is reacted with the second equivalent of alcoholate from, whereupon the product is isolated by distillation after addition of a further equivalent of glycol monoether to the residue from the product isolation, and the first and subsequent steps in the reaction are then carried out again. |
