A MONOLITHIC OR HONEYCOMB CATALYST

Catalysts which rapidly reach the operating temperature are proposed for waste gas purification which consist of an inert monolith support, a metal oxide layer located thereon and a catalytically active component supported by the metal oxide. In these catalysts, wherein the concentration of the metal oxide in the support rises from the outside inwards or, in the case of an even distribution of the metal oxide concentration, the concentration of the active component rises from the inside outwards.
