Transfer and moulding apparatus 10 for transferring an image or drawing of an elongate transfer film 14 onto a moulded article. The transfer and moulding apparatus comprises a film-outputting mechanism 22a for dispensing the transfer film wound around a feed roll 32 and inserting the transfer film between the fixed mould element 18 and the moving mould element 20, a film-receiving mechanism 22b for receiving the transfer film positioned between the fixed mould element 18 and the moving mould element 20 onto a receiving roll 46; a feed means 50, feeding in the length direction, including a drive motor for dispensing the transfer film in one direction of the length from the film-outputting mechanism 22a towards the film-receiving mechanism 22b over a predetermined length during each moulding cycle, and a length direction detector for detecting a position fixation mark on the transfer film. In the apparatus, when the mould is opened in order to separate the fixed and moving mould elements, the drive motor rotates at high speed until the moment just before that when a feed quantity of the transfer film reaches a predetermined value and is then set to a low speed, and thereafter, when the length direction detector detects the position fixation mark, the drive motor is immediately stopped and the drive motor then rotates again through a precontrolled (pre-adjusted) rotation angle.
