The slide valve has a housing (1) with a through bore which can be shut off by a slide. The slide consists of two side plates which enclose a pulley (26) with a pulley (32) of larger dia. on each side. The larger pulleys (32) have flexible wires (38) wound around them with the free ends fixed to the housing (1). The smaller central pulley has a flexible wire (26) wound around it with the free ends attached to a sliding frame (28). This frame is connected to the piston rod (29) of a power cylinder (31).
