FOOD FACILITATING BOWEL MOVEMENT

A food containing edible fibers for facilitating bowel movement is disclosed. It contains a total amount of 10 to 50 % by weight of edible fibers composed of difficultly water-soluble ones and water-soluble ones in a proportion of 2 to 30 parts by weight of the latter fibers per part by weight of the former fibers, wherein said difficultly water-soluble fibers comprise at least 10 % by weight of hemicellulose. This food is effective for prophylaxis and treatment of rectal or colonic constipation.
