Process for preparing ion exchange membrane by drying ionomer having transition metal counterions and forming there from a configuration suitable for permselective applications, ion exchange membrane prepared by the process, and a method for separating an aliphatically unsaturated hydrocarbon from a hydrocarbon mixture using the ion exchange membrane.
