<p>A method of producing a brake shoe (1) or other arcuate component of the kind defined wherein the curved outer edge of the supporting web (2) is provided with peripheral projections (4) adapted for engagement with and protrusion through corresponding openings in the platform (3), said method comprising rolling the initially flat platform (3) into such engagement with the web (2) and simultaneously deforming the protruding ends of the projections (4) to fix the platform to the web. A machine for producing a brake shoe or other arcuate component of the kind defined wherein the curved outer edge of the supporting web (2) is provided with peripheral projections (4) adapted for engagement with and protrusion through corresponding openings in the platform (3), said machine comprising means for rolling the initially flat platform (3) into such engagement with the web (2) and means for simultaneously deforming the protruding ends of the projections (4) to fix the platform (3) to the web (2).</p> |
